WHAT IS RHINOPLASTY?

Rhinoplasty is surgery that changes the shape of the nose. The purpose for rhinoplasty may be to change the appearance of the nose, improve breathing or both as patient desires and doctor recommends. Rhinoplasty can be performed due to deformations,

WHO ARE THE RIGHT CANDIDATES FOR RHINOPLASTY?

You should be 18 + in order to have rhinoplasty. This age limit might change due to a deformation or a birth defect.

RECOVERY AFTER RHINOPLASTY

After the surgery is complete, your doctor will put bandages on your nose as well as a plastic or metal splint that will help your nose keep its new shape. The doctor may also place splints inside your nostrils to help stabilize your septum. Keeping the head elevated is very important, specially when the patient sleeps.

Patients can not wear glasses for 6 to 8 weeks after the surgery. Contact lenses can be alternative to glasses, because glasses cause deformation on the nose. Patient should always keep in mind that her / his nose will be delicate.

The patient should avoid alcohol and cigarette consumption after the rhinoplasty procedure. It is possible to go back to daily life after 2 weeks. However, it is important to avoid heavy sports and exercises for a minimum of 4 weeks.

After the rhinoplasty pain, swelling, light bleeding, numbness, dark under eye circles, and bruising are normal for the first 1 week. These pain level decreases daily . It is possible to go back to daily life after 2 weeks.

If your stitches are dissolvable, they will disappear on their own. If they are not dissolvable, you will have to return to the doctor a week after surgery to have them removed.
