The special tool used in DHI technique is called Choi Pen. This tool provides cutting the incisions and implanting the follicle at the same time. Choi is a medical tool that directly implants each follicle. The hair follicle is transplanted by the physician, who is an expert in the field. The physician needs to design the pattern and each canal on his/her mind in order to provide the most natural appearance. This process continues until each follicle is placed individually.

The minimum staff should be three, physician and at least 2 assistants in DHI procedure. The follicles to be implanted need to keep moisturized with an isotonic solution, and follicles at the tip of the follicle pen should not be dried.
