solution for hair loss due to appearance. In cases of hair loss, sparse growth of mustache, or non-hair growth mustache transplant
Moustache transplant is the process of transplanting hair follicles to the moustache area in cases such as mustache loss, sparse mustache or no mustache growth in men. The process of moustache transplant follows the same steps as hair transplant.
WHAT CAUSES HAIRLOSS IN
THE MOUSTACHE AREA?
There are many facts that cause hair loss. There are many causes of moustache loss, just like hair loss. However, when examined in general terms; It is common to see moustache loss as a result of genetic factors, mustache pulling habit, inflammation-related shedding and psoriasis. Also stress and use of steroids are other major factors. The most accurate determination and diagnosis in this regard can be given by a physician.
STEPS OF MOUSTACHE
TRANSPLANT
Among all the hair transplant procedures, people are curious about
the steps of the moustache transplant most.
The same process is followed as in hair transplant in moustache transplant. The process starts with consultation where the new moustache line is designed by the physician. A natural appearance is the most important fact, so moustache line is drawn in harmony with the shape of one’s face. Number of grafts are picked on each area to create a homogeneous density. Neck area is usually picked as donor area.
FUE method gives the most natural results with a great density. Process starts with picking the follicles from the donor area. After creating the canals, each follicle is implanted to the recipient area with very fine tipped needles. These tiny incisions heal very quickly and leave no scars. It is very important to check the direction of natural hair growth. Process is similar to FUE hair transplant, so is after care. Process is performed under local anesthesia.
REGROWTH OF THE MOUSTACHE
Crusting, redness, even acnes are the regular parts of recovery process. Shock loss will occur after first month of the operation. This loss may occur partially, sometimes all transplanted follicles may fall. Don’t panic! Roots are still there... It’ll take 2 to 4 months for full regrowth. You will receive the full results within the next 6 to 8 months.
FIRST WEEK AFTER
TRANSPLANT
As mentioned above it is possible to have redness, wounds , even acnes within the first 48 hours of post-op. These will heal within a week. It may take up to 2 weeks for redness to disappear. Swelling will reduce and disappear on the first week. Patients can go back to normal life.
HOW MANY GRAFTS CAN A PATIENT
RECEIVE?
The number of grafts depends on each individual’s facial structure,
richness of donor area, and preference. Physician and the patient decide the
number of grafts during consultation. Usually 100 to 200 follicles are
transplanted to the recipient area. This can go up to 400 follicles if the
patient is going through hair loss in a larger area.
For the patients who does not have any moustache, 600 to 800 follicles can be transplanted successfully.
AFTER CARE
The recovery period of moustache transplant is faster than one can imagine. But let’s not forget the fact that transplantation occurs on the facial area. Skin is more delicate compared to scalp. The patient should not peel off the crusting, and let it heal in order to prevent from future scarring. In order to get permanent results, please follow the instructions given by the physician.
It is very important to protect the receipent area for 2 weeks after
the operation.
